The Company was formed to fill an existing vacuum in the Investment Research world as it relates to Nigeria. We are an independent stock market research company with a focus on Nigeria with plans to cover other Sub-Saharan Africa countries in the future. There is dire need for independent equity research to meet the needs of frontier market investors, fund managers, institutional clients and retail clients.
We are offering unbiased equity research among other services and products that seek to inform, educate and advise. It is pertinent that the Nigerian capital market has a “voice” that seeks to inform, educate and advise clients about Nigerian stocks without fear or favour. A resource that can be trusted and will provide the needed color those clients need and usually do not get from existing sources.
Job: Investment research Analyst/Associate
Requirements:
- Must have at least TWO years of work experience in the Research Department of an investment bank, asset management, pension fund, insurance company or brokerage firm preferably having risen through the ranks.
- MUST HAVE direct experience writing investment research reports on companies
- Stellar writing skills; writing samples will be required
- Knows that a career in equity research is a voluntary choice they have made and not still career curious
- Experienced in navigating through Excel
- Comfortable in use of MS Powerpoint in putting together presentations
- Great spoken English and comfortable conversing with clients, broker and potential clients over the phone and in person
- Zest for challenge and comfortable thinking outside of the box
- Passed at least the first level of CFA preferred though not a must; charter holders are welcome
- MBA OR Masters in Finance highly preferred
- Foreign trained graduates are highly encouraged to apply
Responsibilities include (but not limited to):
- Write research reports, equity comments and result commentaries on
- Nigerian companies from start to finish.
- Analyze annual reports and record observations for future use
- Listening in on conference calls and asking insightful questions
- Establishing relationships with companies under coverage
- Put together a detailed monthly stock market report
- Compilation of company data table and forecasts for two years
- Send out breaking news to clients on companies covered as and when necessary
- Meet with management to discuss company affairs on a regular basis and
- be comfortable asking tough questions
- Compile, analyze data and prepare reports on the mutual funds, pension funds and fixed income industry
- Price discovery (fair valuation of companies)
- Oversee equity research assistants and work together to complete investment research reports
